Marinette County's Circuit Court Commissioner aids the judiciary by handling small claims, traffic, DNR, bond hearings, felony preliminary hearings and arraignments along with permanency plan hearings for juvenile cases. The Court Commissioner also handles guardianship WATTS hearings, temporary guardianships and probate proceedings both formal and informal along with probable cause hearings in mental commitment cases.
Furthermore, the Circuit Court Commissioner presides over all pre- and post-judgment family law and paternity proceedings, such as custody, placement, maintenance, child support, property division and related matters, including contempt and enforcement hearings. The Court Commissioner also hears stipulated final divorces, issues temporary restraining orders and presides over all civil domestic abuse and harassment proceedings.
Additionally, the Court Commissioner conducts wedding ceremonies.
