Under this section you will find planning tools and information to help you, your family, school, business and/or local government create plans for coping with natural disasters and emergency situations. Extreme weather is the most frequent hazard we have in Marinette County. This department is now a Weather-Ready Nation Ambassador in partnership with NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration).
While not all emergencies are widespread or long-lasting, the basic rule of preparedness is to ensure that you are prepared to care for yourselves for 3-5 days. Don't forget your pets and other animals! Because Marinette County is a mostly rural county, the majority of citizens are further removed from emergency service providers. They may not be able to reach you due to downed trees, flood waters or heavy snow. In cities and villages, emergency shelter may not be possible as it affects the shelter also. During widespread emergencies/disasters responders will be overwhelmed and it may take some time for help to reach you.
