The Marinette County Forest provides many opportunities. The opportunity to hunt deer, bear, and grouse. Recreation enthusiasts can travel over miles and miles of snowmobile trails or ski through quiet winter wonderlands. Anglers can fish for trout on hundreds of miles of unspoiled rushing streams. Tourists and residents have the opportunity to drive the rustic roads and visit parks with breathtaking waterfalls.
Not only are the forest lands rugged and scenic, but they also make a profit for county taxpayers. Revenues from timber sales average $1,500,000 per year which goes directly into the county operating budget. The county forest also supplies about 60,000 cords of wood a year for forest industries which provide more jobs than any other industry in the county.
The Marinette County Forest is comprised of approximately 231,000 acres and ranks as the second largest county forest in Wisconsin. The majority of these lands are open for the public to enjoy. To see where all our County Forests are, call 715-732-7525 and ask for our Marinette County Highway Map. County Forests and Park Lands are indicated in light green.
The county forest provides timber products for the forest industry, revenue for the County and Town governments, recreational opportunities, and scenic beauty for all to enjoy.
