Information for Funeral Homes

The Marinette County Medical Examiner’s Office is committed to certifying death certificates in a timely and reasonable manner once all necessary information and investigative findings are available.

In some cases, certification may take additional time if further investigation, medical record review, toxicology testing, or autopsy results are required to accurately determine the cause and manner of death. These steps are essential to ensure the death certificate is completed accurately and in accordance with state law.

Funeral homes are notified as soon as the death certificate has been certified so that families may proceed with final arrangements.

We appreciate your patience as we work to ensure every death investigation is handled thoroughly, professionally, and with respect for the decedent and their family.

All cremation permits should be emailed as a PDF to kalynn.vanermen@marinettecountywi.gov. Please allow 24 hours for return of permit. No permits will be issued on weekends or holiday's.
