Payments made after the January 31 due date, for all municipalites, should be sent directly to the Marinette County Treasurer, 1926 Hall Ave, Marinette WI 54143-1717.

Late payments will have 1% interest and (Effective 1-1-25) 0.5% penalty added, beginning February 1. One percent interest and (Effective 1-1-25) 0.5% penalty are added on the 1st day of the month.

Late payments will have 1% interest and (Effective 1-1-25) 0.5% penalty added for each delinquent month, starting in February. So payments made in August will also have 7 months of interest and penalty added - February-August.
SEPTEMBER - "Notice of Issuance" Reminders Mailed
These reminders are mailed to anyone still owing on the current year taxes.
The reminder will also note if there are prior year taxes still due.
FORECLOSURE TIMELINE
MID-MAY -
*Reminders are mailed to those with a remaining balance in the foreclosure tax year. If the foreclosure tax year balance is paid by June 30, taxpayers can avoid the $190 (varies each year based on prior year expenses) In-Rem fee.
JULY 1 -
*We begin the foreclosure process on parcels that are 2 years delinquent.
*A $190 (varies each year based on prior year expenses) In-Rem fee is added to the parcel.
OCTOBER -
*Certified letters are mailed to property owners and lien holders.
*From this point forward, payments towards the In-Rem foreclosure tax year can no longer be in the form of a personal check. We only accept certified funds, money orders, bank checks, or cash.
MARCH -
*In-Rem foreclosure tax year must be paid in full by 3/31, or the property will proceed to court and final foreclosure.
FORECLOSURE TIMELINE EXAMPLE -
*July 1, 2025 - The foreclosure process will begin on parcels with delinquent 2021 taxes. The In-REM Administrative fee will be added to the bill.
*Oct 2025 - Certified letters will be mailed to property owners and lien holders with unpaid 2021 taxes.
*March 2026 - All 2021 taxes and fees must be paid in full to prevent foreclosure.
*July 1, 2026 - The foreclosure process will begin on parcels with delinquent 2022 AND 2023 taxes. The In-REM Administrative fee will be added to the bill.
*Oct 2026 - Certified letters will be mailed to property owners and lien holders with unpaid 2022 AND 2023 taxes.
*March 2027 - All 2022 AND 2023 taxes and fees must be paid in full to prevent foreclosure.
